The Black Nurses Association of Greater Washington, DC Area, Inc. (BNA-GWDCA) will host its 46th Annual Salute to the Black Nurse of the Year & Scholarship Awards Luncheon, a premier gathering of nursing leaders, healthcare decision-makers, community partners, and supporters. This signature event recognizes outstanding nursing leadership, supports nursing students through scholarships, and honors the vital role Black nurses play in advancing health equity and community care.

For nearly fifty years, BNA-GWDCA has served as a vital voice for health equity, professional development, and community care. Our members have provided free health screenings, education, and mentorship to families across the region—while supporting nursing students through scholarships and advocacy.

The Legacy Project
In honor of nearly five decades of service, BNA-GWDCA is launching the Legacy Project — an initiative to preserve and document the remarkable contributions of Black nurses who have shaped our communities. This project will capture stories, interviews, and archival materials to ensure that our history of leadership, advocacy, and compassion is never forgotten.
Community support ensures our story is never lost — and that the next generation of nurses is inspired by the legacy of those who came before them.
